About

Built around a shared problem.

Cardiovascular science is becoming increasingly precise. But the systems that recognize, define and connect patients to disease-specific care have not always kept pace.

PrecisionCardio™ was founded to give therapeutics companies a place to work together on the barriers that recur across diseases and across companies.

Founded by Megan Sutton, Alla Zarifyan, Leila Berkeley and Daisy Li-Brum. Read their backgrounds.

01  Why we exist

Our mission

Help more patients reach a precise diagnosis and disease-specific care, sooner.

A broad cardiovascular presentation can reflect very different underlying diseases. Reaching the right diagnosis may depend on recognizing the clue, characterizing the phenotype, ordering the right disease-directed evaluation, interpreting the findings in context and connecting the result to appropriate care.

When one part of that pathway is missed, precision can stop short. PrecisionCardio exists to address the shared barriers that make that happen.

02  Why an industry alliance

Many of these challenges sit at the disease level, upstream of product-specific decisions.

They often require sustained work across companies and beyond them. PrecisionCardio gives members a structure to determine which shared problems warrant collective attention, organize the right expertise around them and move appropriate pre-competitive work forward.

03  Founding leadership

Backgrounds in clinical care, industry, operations and law.

What we share is a commitment to helping patients reach a precise diagnosis and care sooner.

Megan Sutton
Megan Sutton President and founder

Megan has spent her career in cardiovascular medicine, from clinical practice into therapeutic development, where she has led medical affairs and clinical development for cardiomyopathy programs, including gene therapy.

Alla Zarifyan
Alla Zarifyan Founder

Alla has spent 15 years in medical communications and strategy across genomics, precision medicine and diagnostics. She trained in molecular biology and pharmacology before moving into communications.

Leila Berkeley
Leila Berkeley Founder

Leila is an operations leader who has spent her career building and scaling membership and community organizations, from 8 years at The Economist Group to operating roles at digital health and professional community companies.

Daisy Li-Brum
Daisy Li-Brum Founder

Daisy is a general counsel who advises life sciences, healthcare, and technology companies on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, data privacy, and intellectual property.

04  Built to work beyond PrecisionCardio

The partner follows the priority, not the other way around.

Most meaningful initiatives will require expertise and reach beyond the member companies themselves. Members first determine the priority. PrecisionCardio then identifies the partners best positioned to help advance that work.

Chosen firstA member-selected priority
  • Professional societies
  • Patient organizations
  • Academic institutions
  • Clinical experts
  • Other organizations with relevant capabilities

Depending on the project, the partners may be any of these. None is a standing second class of membership.

05  What we are

An independent, member-governed nonprofit industry association.

For biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies working across precision cardiovascular medicine. Members set the priorities. PrecisionCardio provides the structure for pre-competitive collective action and the standing infrastructure needed to carry member-selected work forward.

06  The boundary is deliberate

At the disease level, the challenge is shared.

Product-specific decisions are not.

PrecisionCardio does not coordinate product-specific development decisions, product or commercial strategy, pricing, contracting or other competitively sensitive matters. Those decisions remain with each company.

Founding membership is now forming.

About

Built around a shared problem.

PrecisionCardio™ brings therapeutics companies together to work on the barriers that keep patients from a precise cardiovascular diagnosis.

Our mission

Help more patients reach a precise diagnosis and disease-specific care, sooner.

01  Why now

More cardiovascular treatments now depend on knowing the exact disease.

A growing number of cardiovascular therapies target a specific mechanism or disease subtype. Each one can only help the patients who are correctly diagnosed, and getting to that diagnosis is often slow.

Many of the barriers are the same across diseases and across companies. That makes them worth working on together.

02  The people

The people behind PrecisionCardio.

PrecisionCardio was founded by a team with backgrounds in clinical care, industry, operations, and law. What we share is a commitment to helping patients reach a precise diagnosis and care sooner.

Clear boundaries
